The Division of General, Visceral and Transplant Surgery is concerned with surgical therapy for diseases related to gastroenterology, endocrinology and senology as well as abdominal trauma. One special focus is hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery. Close interdisciplinary networking with all surgical specialties increases the opportunities for conducting complex, multidisciplinary interventions.
The wide range of scientific problems includes innovative topics in basic research and health services research based on a large number of interdisciplinary and international cooperations.
In the interests of academic surgery, our key concerns are student education and first-class training of young surgeons.
